Hector Marin
Hector Marin is a professional guitar player/composer. He specializes in rock guitar, but can play a variety of styles of music and can learn new songs fast and efficiently. Since a young age Hector developed a passion for writing and performing music as a means of self-expression and connection with fellow human beings.
Hector first studied electric guitar privately and then classical guitar at the University of Costa Rica. He then moved to NYC where I studied music composition at The City College of New York and Lehman College. After graduating Hector played in a variety of ensembles, and since 2013 he is a member of the rock band The Blackfires, with whom he has performed extensively.
Most notably The Blackfires opened the show for Aerosmith in Moscow, Russia at the Olimpiyskyi Stadium in 2014, then in 2019 they returned to Moscow and opened the show for Bon Jovi at the Luzhniki Stadium. This last show was recorded and will be released as an album in the near future.
The Blackfires have also performed in NYC with renowned acts such as Skid Row, Europe, and California Breed (Glenn Hughes/Jason Bonham) at Gramercy Theater and Irving Plaza, as well as music festivals in Colorado and Wisconsin with headliners such as Linkin Park, Rob Zombie, Weezer, and Slipknot.
With the Blackfires Hector has recorded two Eps and one full length album, and are currently mixing our second full length album which is planned to release later this year (2022).
In addition, Hector works with the New York City Guitar School teaching private lessons and group classes to people of all levels and walks of life.
