Jeff Schmidt is a two-decade veteran entrepreneur, IT security leader, and Internet infrastructure expert. Prior to starting DataPulse in 2015, Jeff founded JAS Global Advisors LLC in 2003 – an IT security consultancy which architects and delivers security and risk management solutions for a full range of government and private sector clients. In addition, Jeff founded Authis, a provider of innovative risk-managed identity services for the financial vertical, was the Vice President of Product Management for ENDFORCE (acquired by Sophos), and was the CIO of The Ohio State University’s second largest business unit. He also spent time at The Microsoft Corporation where he spearheaded Microsoft’s first internal malicious testing of Windows 2000. Complementing his business roles, Jeff is the founder and elected Director of the InfraGard National Members Alliance, the private sector component of the FBI’s InfraGard Program. Jeff helped the FBI create the InfraGard Program in 1998 and has received commendations from the Attorney General, the Director of the FBI, and the National Infrastructure Protection Center. Jeff’s publication activity includes The Microsoft Windows 2000 Security Handbook, published by Que in four languages, and contribution to Using Windows NT 4.0, Teach Yourself Linux in 10 Minutes, and the Cyber Security Policy Guidebook. He received a BS CIS from The Ohio State University and an MBA Magna Cum Laude from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. Jeff is an adjunct professor of Systems Security Engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology and a Zurich Cyber Risk Fellow, Cyber Statecraft Initiative, at The Atlantic Council.
